Chief Bolu and The Roots of African Percussion Performing
at the White House Chief Bolu fulfills his birthright as a traditional musician through his band, Bolu and The Roots of Africa Percussion. Most recently, they performed for millions of viewers on ABC television during the 1998 national primetime airing of the opening of Walt Disney World's Wild Animal Kingdom. In 1997, Chief Bolu released the popular Orisha CD and cassette tape, "Festival of the Deities, Ajodun Irunmole." His band has performed all over the U.S., including performances at the White House, Black Entertainment Television, AT&T, the National Black Arts Festival; the Atlanta Festival of Arts; and the 1996 Olympic Games. Among his many musical credits, Chief Bolu was the longtime composer and arranger for famed King Sunny Ade of Nigeria. Also a writer, Chief Bolu's highly acclaimed column, Ade Omo Awo (Adebolu, Son of the Secret), will soon be published in the U.S. He is also fine tuning a soon-to-be published book, "The Genesis of the Orisha."
